Introduction to Describe Image

Describe Image
This is a course focused on improving your ability to describe images in English accurately and in detail. This course will teach you to critically observe and visually express what you see using a rich and varied vocabulary. Through practical exercises, you will learn to construct clear and coherent descriptions that capture the details and essence of various images, from photographs to illustrations, thus improving your communication and observation skills.
“Describe Image” is a section of the PTE Academic exam that assesses your ability to interpret and describe visual information quickly and effectively. In this task, you will be presented with an image that can be a graph, a chart, a table, a diagram, a map, or a photograph. You will have 25 seconds to look at the image and prepare your response, followed by 40 seconds to describe what you see.
The goal is to provide a clear and detailed description of the image, highlighting the main features and obvious relationships between the elements shown. You should try to cover all important aspects of the image, such as titles, labels, trends, comparisons, and conclusions that can be inferred.
The Describe Image assessment is based on your ability to organize information logically, your fluency in speaking, the accuracy of your vocabulary and grammar, and how effectively you can communicate the main ideas of the image. It is essential to practice this skill to improve the speed and accuracy with which you can analyze and verbalize visual details under time pressure.
Before you start talking, mentally organize the most important details of the image, such as trends in graphs or actions in photographs, to describe them clearly and efficiently.
Practice with a variety of images, focusing on quickly identifying the type of image and key details. Use concise and precise sentences to describe these elements, making sure to cover the most significant aspects within the designated time.
